Attire & Grippy Socks To gain the most from your barre class, you must wear grippy socks which are available in our boutique and based on our specialized equipment, we recommend leggings and a comfortable top that covers most of your midriff. Studio Barre classes focus on a specific muscle group at one time, and therefore it is important to keep your idle muscles warm until they are ready to become the focus. This will ensure the utmost safe workout for you! {this also allows our staff to make the proper hands on corrections} Attire & Grippy Socks The required attire for taking class at our studio is: leggings {capri length or longer}, a top that completely covers midriff and grippy socks. The reason leggings and a full covered top are required is to keep the heat in the body to prevent injury while keeping muscles warm. This will ensure the utmost safe workout for you! {this also allows our staff to make the proper hands on corrections} The Studio Barre workout is done without shoes and because we care about your safety, we require you wear grippy socks in class. Not only are they super cute, but they will keep your feet in place and everything clean. You can shop our boutique for your grippy socks. Classes & Packages Classes and class packages are not interchangeable at other Studio Barre locations. Only Studio Barre Society members can enjoy classes at all studio barre locations for a discounted drop-in price. All packages are non-refundable and expire in 365 tucking days {unless otherwise stated} so be sure to get your booty in class. She grew up attending school and playing sports in Alexandria before completing her college education at The University of Virginia. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at The University of George Washington, and has been working as a pediatric physical therapist for 10 years. Currently, she works in the neonatal intensive care unit at Children’s National Hospital in DC. Colleen took her first barre class here at SBA just four days after running the Marine Corps Marathon, and she hasn’t looked back since! Since then, she has taken over 1000 classes, trained to be a barre{tender}, and now is our Master Teacher Trainer! Colleen has a love for all things fitness and family!! She came to a barre class on a whim one summer and fell in love. She loves the community and culture with SBA and is so excited to be teaching here! She joined the Junior Company her sophomore year of high school for Festival Ballet Providence and was lucky to perform in several performances with the professional company. Her junior year of high school she left home and moved to Torrington, CT to attend the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts, a boarding school focusing on ballet training. After graduating from the Nutmeg, she moved to Charlotte, NC where she danced with the Charlotte Ballet and later to Princeton, NJ, dancing with the American Repertory Ballet. When she decided to hang up her pointe shoes for good, she moved home to Rhode Island and found and fell in love with the barre workout.
